Shawn Finch, Senior Pastor

Shawn is a native of Marietta, Georgia and grew up in Dalton Georgia.  After high school, he attended Cumberland College where he was a scholarship football player and double Majored in Religion and Business Administration.  After college, he earned his Masters of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

While in seminary he served Norwood Baptist Church as their Ministry to Students.  Since that time, he has service at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Mable White Memorial Baptist Church and First Baptist Canton, all in Georgia.  In 2011 he moved to Texas to serve Woodridge Baptist Church in Kingwood Texas. 

In 2014 he joined the work force in Houston after a divorce. In the time following the divorce God lead him to meet his wife Erin and her daughter Abby and in June of 2015 they were married in Kingwood and the family of all boys’ added two girls.  So, the whole blinded family is Shawn and Erin who is school teacher in the Humble ISD, Austen- Sophomore at the University of Arkansas, Aaron- Senior at Kingwood High School, Aiden-6th grader, and Abby-5th grader. 

The passage in Genesis 50:19-21 has come alive for the family as they have seen God’s grace and the grace of God’s church as Shawn has come to serve Uvalde Baptist Church as their Interim Pastor.

David Martin, Youth Minister

David was born and raised living all over the state of Texas, the son of a minister and a teacher. He grew up in the church and grew to love music and see his parents love students well.  He graduated High School in Luling, Texas and went to Sam Houston State University to study music education.  While at Sam Houston, David felt a call on his life to ministry.  Upon graduation David became an Orchestra teacher in Freeport for one year before becoming a Special Education Teacher at Thompson Intermediate in Pasadena, where he still works.

David served as the interim Music Minister at Memorial Baptist Church in Pasadena for a year and has served in many ways at that church, including, playing in the praise band, directing the choir, and serving as a youth leader/Sunday school teacher.  David joined the staff at Uvalde Baptist in September of 2018 as the Youth Minister.

His interests include sports, playing and writing music, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
